Welcome to Threadendipity

Welcome to Threadendipity!

I guess I should give a short background on who I am and how I came to be here.

First of all my name is Dianna. A long time ago I wanted to make my own Halloween costumes and figured that if other people did it then there had to be a way. This started my self-taught sewing addiction. Once I learned of all the different things you could make yourself I was totally hooked, because the thought that I could have something that no one else in the world did excited me. My mother was definitely not a seamstress so it became a very long trial-and-error process but for the most part I got it down. I had always been good at figuring out how things fit together and patterns, even though I couldn't read the ones you got int he stores to save my life, were no different.

I started on the sewing machine and never looked back. I'm going to be getting tutored in the ways of "proper sewing" between my college classes soon. This is mostly to fill in the gaps of things I couldn't really learn on my own. A few areas still elude me but if I figure it all out then things can only go up from there. I'm sure I'll be posting about my misadventures once I have them and document them for the world.

In the areas of not-sewing I figured I could do some of that as well and have been experimenting with it ever since. I've made home made crayons, prop guns for costumes, pouches, very limited metal working, and I'm trying to figure out the mysterious world of leather. Or at least more so on how to make it look good and not like a slob did it. I would also love to learn how to knit, there are so many cute patterns for it I just can't resist!

But as much as I branch out sewing will always be my first love.
